The demutualisation of Assupol Life was approved by the High Court of South Africa on the 9th of December 2010. As part of the demutualisation, the members of Assupol Life surrendered their membership rights in Assupol Life. Qualifying members received shares in the holding company of Assupol Life, namely Assupol Holdings, in exchange for the membership rights. The Assupol Community Trust was formed to benefit communities, in areas where a significant numbers of Assupol Life policyholders reside.
We have decided that the focus of the Assupol Community Trust will lie in early childhood development (ECD). A range of research studies and policy declarations assert that early childhood education makes a real and lasting difference in children’s lives. Early childhood is a critical period in a child’s development as this forms the foundation for physical, cognitive and emotional development.
Assupol believes that every child deserves a fair chance and we will work tirelessly in the ECD sector, to do more for the children of our country. Quality ECD services will ensure that children have the best start in life.
